Back by popular demand, the 2012 Seminar will return to the Westfields Marriott in Chantilly, Virginia, where it was held in 2002 and 2006. Only 15 minutes from Dulles Airport, this prime location is nestled in the middle of beautiful hunt country and less than 30 minutes from historic Middleburg, Virginia. Kennel tours will be available – more than 8 packs of hounds are within an hour’s drive – but you must coordinate your own transportation. On Saturday afternoon, Covertside Magazine will be holding a Foxhunting Photography Workshop, open to all subscribing members for an additional fee of $50. The seminar will run from 1:00 to 3:00 PM and will cover both technical and artistic tips for getting great foxhunting pictures. Take a tour of kennels on Saturday, attend a Hunt’s races or visit some of the great tack stores in the area. Come early and stay late—you’ll have a ball!

You must be a Subscribing Member to attend, and unless you live in the area, we request that you stay on-site to attend the Seminar. The Westfields Marriott is a five-star hotel with numerous amenities, including upscale and casual dining, indoor and outdoor pools, gym, sauna, tennis courts, and access to the beautiful Westfields Golf Club. We suggest you make your reservations early as the rooms fill up fast - simply contact the Marriott at (800) 228-9290 and request the Master of Foxhounds Associations Seminar rate. We were able to negotiate an excellent rate of $109 per room (up to 4 people), as well as other discounts, by agreeing to fill our room quota. Please help us keep expenses down by staying at the Marriott. Please note that this is not a tax-deductible event.

A Masters-only seminar will be held at the hotel on Saturday, April 21st, starting at 1:00 PM (topics). Events for all attendees will begin later that day, with a dinner and party at the hotel at 6:30 PM. The agenda includes a program honoring retired professional huntsmen from Virginia that have made huge contributions to the sport of foxhunting. “The Ian Milne Trophy”, a new award for professional huntsmen, will be unveiled. This award will be presented at each Biennial Staff Seminar to a huntsman, representing any MFHA member hunt, who has distinguished himself or herself and has been recognized by their peers as an exceptional contributor to the sport of foxhunting. A panel of 11 experienced huntsmen will make the selection, and the recipient will receive a trophy and a check for $1,000.

Auctions for international hunt experiences in England, Ireland, and New Zealand will be conducted Saturday night. Each package will include free lodging, horses, dinner with hunt members and at least one hunt for two people, and will feature one of the best hunts in that country. Travel expenses are not included.

The Seminar itself starts Sunday morning at the Marriott. The topics are unique to foxhunting and will educate and entertain. Click here for the seminar topics
